The week before, I suddenly received a message from M-san and we decided to have dinner together on 18 Jan.
Although it was circuit breaker period due to COVID-19, M-san looked for a new job and changed the job in the same industry.
When she left the company that I am now working at (I will call this as Company-A in this article), she contacted me via MS Teams. However, we haven’t seen each other more than three years.
People and companies in the same industry are connected.
I cannot be isolated all the time because there would be no information from colleagues, but I should differentiate friends from just colleagues and acquaintances.
M-san is much younger than me, but she is my friend.
I will contact her sometimes.
Our talk went well especially when we talked about NK who was our ex-colleague but working in another team.
M-san joined Company-A in 2014. NK didn’t have common sense and was very rude to M-san. I know what NK told her, which was really rude.
Moreover, NK had an unsavory scandal and even herself advertised it, sigh…. She was very unique.
NK’s English is almost native speaker because NK had studied in US since she was in high school, which is frustrating.
She had been transferred more than 3 or 4 or more teams/departments while she was working at Company-A.
I do not remember when she left Company-A exactly, but it would be end of 2021 or beginning of 2022 when the employees were returning to the office.
NK worked in another building located in CBD area, so that I do not know during two years before she left also because of COVID-19.
NK applied a job for a company that M-san is currently working!
M-san’s boss asked her to see (interview?) NK because of the same Japanese, but M-san became unable to move as soon as she heard the name of NK. It could be M-san changed complexion.
Her boss understood immediately. (Wow!)
Nowadays, Company-A is hiring in many positions, but if previous employee cannot be re-hired, there would be reasons. M-san suspects that her boss thought that way.
I knew that NK wished to return to Company-A, but it hasn’t been successful.
Someone in Company-A is referring to her, but NK hasn’t been hired so far.
No wonder!
NK is Permanent Residence in this country, so that I think it would be better to work in another industry.
Getting Employment Pass is difficult at this moment. PR has advantage to get a job.
It’s a really small world.
One should hide real emotion (but, it should not be seen they are hiding), and run/ walk around well.
Other than NK, we talked about M-san’s family-in-law and her sisters and had enjoyable dinner and coffee!
