I couldn’t sell a share…

I didn’t intend to write about money and investment in this blog. However, I recently experienced that it was extremely difficult for me to sell shares, so that I am writing that here as memorandum.

The company I was/ am working did IPO, listed in NY market, in 2008, I purchased the shares at that time. I have been planning to sell some shares when they reached US$250, add some cash, and pay back a housing loan in full!! That is because the loan‘s interest rate is 4.575%. Around when I once left the company in 2015 and 2016, the stock price had been climbed. Thus, I thought it was ok not to repay a loan and waited for the price high although I had no income. It was correct at that time. However, the share price is not going up always. After all-time record US$ US$252.64 in July 2021, it tumbled to US$170+ due to COVID-19, Ukraine war, and so forth.

On 13 September, the share price reached US$250.06!!, but I couldn’t sell the shares maybe because I hadn’t been bought or sold a share for years although I was eager for reaching US$250. At that time, I thought ‘next time.’ The company announced on the same day about its Class-B share (but I don’t understand what it means). Then, the price got down US6 next day. As of 22 September, the stock price fell US$15. I am repaying a loan more than \300,000/ month (angry). I want to pay back the loan in full before retirement. I was really waiting for its US$250, and it came true, but I couldn’t sell the share… It is very hard to sell a share. Word of wisdom in market says, “Depend upon yourself alone.”, or “When you think it’s already the time, it’s actually still not yet. When you think not yet, it’s actually already late.” I really agree with them.
